2 WEEKS
New technicians begin their journey at SkyMast Energy with two weeks of intensive training, including Global Wind Orientation and a specialized one-week in-house training tailored to SkyMast-specific protocols and safety procedures. This foundation equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills for their upcoming roles.
2 MONTHS
During the first two months, new technicians enter either an apprenticeship or a project-based job shadowing an experienced lead technician. This period focuses on hands-on learning, where new technicians perform routine maintenance tasks such as cleaning, lubricating, and torque and tensioning, all under close supervision to ensure thorough understanding and skill development.
6 MONTHS
After six months, selected technicians have the opportunity to work on production-based jobs. In this role, they can directly influence their earnings through a performance-based system, rewarding efficiency and skill in handling turbine maintenance according to specific metrics.
1 YEAR
By the end of the first year, technicians who demonstrate advanced competency may be promoted to Tech Level 2. Responsibilities at this level include managing lockout-tagout (LOTO) procedures, overseeing onsite tooling and documentation, and possibly stepping up as a team lead. This role involves handling more complex maintenance tasks and minor repair work.
2 YEARS
Some technicians may advance to Tech Level 3 after two years, gaining responsibilities that include troubleshooting electrical and mechanical issues. This stage emphasizes deeper technical skills as technicians begin performing diagnostic tests and contributing to system analyses, paving the way for further professional growth and specialization.
3 YEARS
At the three-year mark, some technicians will have the opportunity to operate with significant independence and are entrusted with strategic decisions regarding turbine maintenance and repairs. They may also supervise larger teams and manage critical projects, including major component replacements and complex troubleshooting efforts. This stage typically involves mentoring newer technicians and leading by example in safety and efficiency.
3+ YEARS PROJECT MANAGEMENT
Technicians who have excelled in technical roles and shown potential for leadership may transition into project management. Project managers at SkyMast Energy handle wind projects from start to finish, responsible for planning, executing, and closing projects. They ensure that all projects meet the set timelines, budgets, and quality standards, demonstrating SkyMast’s commitment to excellence in the wind energy sector.
